Julien De Casabianca is a French and Corsican visual artist and filmmaker best known for his "Outings Project" which is a series of classic museum paintings brought to life in the form of street art. Before reaching success through his street art, Casabianca was an outstanding filmmaker who's work was supported by multiple remarkable figures such as literature Nobel Prize winner Gao Xingjian and Costa Gavras.
I was deeply moved by his Outings Project because it brings the ancient paintings out of the walls of a closed museum and into the everyday lives of people who cross paths with these pieces. I enjoy spending a majority of my free time browsing the classics sections of museums so being able to see some of my favorite pieces brought to life on the streets creates a feeling of serenity in my heart. The beyond life-size of these paintings deeply interest me because the bigger the piece gets, the harder the details get and somehow his larger murals never fail to perfectly portray the emotion of the characters in the paintings and every detail of his work is so effortlessly flawless. I have strong admiration for those who are able to visually illustrate portraits because the intuition that goes into recreating people's emotions on canvas requires a deeper level of understanding and sympathetic ability.
